Why I'm Running ...

I have been a resident of Mahwah since 2000 and currently live here since 2019 with my wife Jennifer, our two daughters, and our dog Jax. We chose Mahwah because we wanted to raise our family in a community that offers safety, strong public services, and a high quality of life. From our dedicated police department, fire department, EMS volunteers, and Public Works team, to our beautiful parks, recreation programs, and well-maintained infrastructure, Mahwah has always felt like a town that truly cares about its residents.

One of the biggest reasons we knew we made the right decision was the school system. Our daughters have had the opportunity to grow up in a positive educational environment with outstanding teachers, staff, activities, and experiences that helped shape who they are today. We also value the sense of community in Mahwah — a town where people from different backgrounds come together, support one another, and take pride in where they live.

The Morin family is proud to call Mahwah home. I am running for Town Council because I want to help continue the work that keeps Mahwah a great place to live, while focusing on the issues that matter most to residents and families throughout our community.

A Deeper Look at Why I’m Running

Here’s more about what drives me to serve Mahwah and how I’ll approach the job on your behalf.

My commitment to Mahwah is rooted in a desire to see our town thrive for generations to come. Having lived here through different stages of my life, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities our community faces. My approach to the Town Council will be one of transparency, active listening, and evidence-based decision-making. I believe that local government works best when it is responsive to the needs of every resident, from our youngest students to our senior citizens.

My Journey to this Campaign ...

As a business professional with more than 20 years of experience working for multiple family-owned companies, a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology with Master’s Degrees in Technology Management and Business Administration, and a current student in the Master of Law program at Seton Hall University, I have built my career around leadership, accountability, and problem-solving. More importantly, however, I pride myself on my commitment and loyalty to my family, friends, and community.

Throughout my life, I have always believed in giving back. Whether volunteering at summer camps, church events, charitable organizations, or community fundraisers, service to others has always been an important part of who I am. Because of that, my decision to take the next step and run for public office is not something that happened overnight — it is the result of years of involvement, experience, and a genuine desire to help my community.

I have always been interested in how government can best support the people it serves and the responsibility that comes with making decisions that impact a community’s future. I believe strong communities are built by people willing to step forward, listen, and become part of the solution.

In 2019, my family moved into a new development in Mahwah where volunteers were needed to help lead the Homeowners Association. I asked my neighbors for their trust and support, and I was elected President of the Orchard Ridge HOA. For more than five years, I have worked alongside residents, developers, contractors, and local officials while helping oversee budgets, infrastructure concerns, community standards, and communication within our neighborhood. That experience gave me a greater appreciation for the importance of thoughtful leadership, transparency, and responsible planning in a growing community.

During my time serving on the HOA Board, I attended a Town Council meeting regarding the release of a developer bond tied to our community. That meeting gave me a firsthand look at the level of responsibility our local government officials carry and the lasting impact their decisions have on residents throughout Mahwah. It was at that moment that my interest in serving on the Town Council truly began to grow.

In June of 2025, I expanded my community involvement by volunteering as Secretary for the Betsy Ross HSO. This role provided another opportunity to become more involved with local families, schools, teachers, and community programs. It also reinforced my belief that strong communication, collaboration, and community engagement are essential to maintaining the quality of life that makes Mahwah special.

Over the past several years, I have spent time meeting with local officials, watching Town Council and municipal meetings, participating in community discussions, and learning more about the issues shaping Mahwah today and in the future. Through these experiences, I have come to understand how important it is for residents to have honest, experienced, and community-focused representation on the Town Council.

As I learned more about redevelopment challenges and affordable housing requirements, including issues connected to the Mount Laurel obligations, I reflected on my own experiences working through development-related concerns at Orchard Ridge. I believe my background in business, operations, budgeting, and community leadership can provide a practical and balanced perspective as Mahwah continues to plan for future growth and redevelopment.

During the school referendum discussions, I encouraged residents to become informed, participate, and make their voices heard. That experience reminded me that the people of Mahwah are the foundation of this community, and their voices should always remain at the center of the decisions that shape its future.

I never expected to become involved in local politics, but my experiences, community involvement, and conversations with residents have led me to this point. I believe I can continue to serve Mahwah in a positive and meaningful way by listening to residents, approaching challenges with common sense and professionalism, and helping ensure that Mahwah continues to reflect the values of the people who proudly call this town home.
